What If?

"What if I'd given up on you?"

"You would be sad and I would have no idea what I had missed."

"What if I never loved you in the first place?"

"Neither of us would know what we were missing."

"What if I were younger when you'd realized?"

"I would wait for you."

"What if I were older?"

"I would regret that I hadn't come to my senses sooner."

"What if I were Xiaolin?"

"I would seduce you to my side, of course."

"What if I had an element?"

"Your element would doubtlessly be metal if you could tap into it. I would train you and temper your metal with my fire."

"What if I were stronger than I am?"

"I would perceive you as a threat and wouldn't have let you get so close to me. Not as quickly as you did, in any case."

"What if I were even weaker?"

"I would dismiss your presence entirely as unworthy until you proved otherwise to me."

"What if I wasn't a genius?"

"I would find you less interesting, likely. Still interesting, but less so than I currently do."

"What if I weren't albino?"

"My feelings towards you wouldn't change, having never known what you look like as such. Thinking now of that, though…I am saddened by the idea of trading such unique colors for normalcy."

"What if I had friends instead of robots?"

"I would be jealous. Human friends tend to monopolize one's time. Robot friends do only as they're told. I am too…possessive to want you to have human friends that can't be shooed away quite so easily."

"What if my parents were actually parents to me?"

"I would be irritated. I doubt I would be pleased with constant nagging to treat you well and not keep you out all night; same for your mother's failed attempts to 'accept me into the family' and your father's failed attempts to intimidate me into being a good 'boyfriend.' That, and I rather like the quirks you've obtained through a neglectful upbringing. They're endearing."

"What if you were my boyfriend?"

"I wouldn't be. I would never be something so juvenile, not to anyone. I am your lover."

"Well…what if I were bad in bed?"

"I would teach you to be otherwise. You're a quick study and if you weren't, we would have plenty of time to work on that, now."

"What if you'd never made me immortal?"

"I would lose you and regret it for the rest of my days."

"What if you were mortal, then?"

"I would've died centuries ago and we'd have never met."

"What if you were born when I was?"

"We would both be mortal in this time and live a mortal life together."

"What if I were born when you were?"

"I would still be alive now and you would've died centuries ago, and I would hate it."

"What if things were just…different?"

"We would find a way. Knowing your persistence…my possessive nature…I can't see us existing together in any situation, at the same time and in the same place and not wanting to have…this."

"Chase…?"

"Yes, Jack?"

"I would say it back."
